Both nights in the Karoo are spent at Mount Camdeboo, a family-run safari reserve that wraps around Graaff-Reinet and the Sneeuberg mountains, bordering Camdeboo National Park itself. Expect open-plains game drives, far-reaching hiking trails, and some of the clearest night skies in the world.
Your first night is spent at the reserve's main lodge, a relaxed base looking out over the Karoo plains and the mountains beyond. Settle in before an afternoon game drive in search of the reserve's springbok, blesbok, black wildebeest and the occasional steenbok.
For your second night, swap the lodge for an exquisite, secluded cabin out in the reserve itself — just you, the silence of the Karoo, and some of the darkest, clearest skies on the continent.
