Route Details
Day 1 — Welcome to Johannesburg
At Aero Savannah, we believe the adventure begins the moment you touch down. From your arrival, every detail is designed to make you feel welcome and immersed in the spirit of South Africa. After a short transfer to your hotel, you can relax and settle in while we introduce you to the warmth, charm, and genuine hospitality that make South Africa so special.
Day 2 — Augrabies Falls
With a good night's rest behind us, the real adventure begins. We'll take a few moments to get comfortable with the aircraft, enjoying a couple of touch-and-goes before setting off, leaving the city behind and flying towards Upington — your gateway to one of nature's most humbling spectacles — the Augrabies Falls. The Orange River doesn't merely fall here; it thunders into the gorge below, earning its name: the Place of Great Noise.
Day 3-4 — Fish River Canyon
From Upington, the navigation will be quite easy as you follow the Orange River initially. Upon landing in Keetmanshoop, you will clear immigration and soar over the Fish River Canyon — the largest canyon in Africa, raw and endless beneath your wings. At Fish River Canyon Lodge, the pace slows beautifully. Walk the rugged trails. Stand at the rim. Let the dramatic scenery remind you just how vast this continent truly is.
Day 5-6 — Namib Desert & Sossusvlei
After two nights on the beautiful rim of Fish River Canyon, you will completely change scenery by flying towards the Namib Desert. You will be amazed by the changing colours of the landscape, from deep brown to vibrant orange and golden yellow. Upon landing in the heart of the desert, the lodge team will welcome you and drive you to your oasis in the wilderness. Over the next two days, your activities consist of climbing Big Daddy, enjoying a sunset drive, going quad biking and embracing the peacefulness of the desert.
Day 7-8 — Damaraland
After climbing Big Daddy, take to the skies for a completely different perspective of Namibia's iconic red dunes. As you fly north, admire the vastness of the Namib Desert and, weather permitting, follow the dramatic coastline, looking out for shipwrecks scattered along the Skeleton Coast. Slowly, the landscape transforms from desert and coast into rugged mountains, home to the elusive desert elephant. Upon landing at Twyfelfontein, the lodge team will welcome you and drive you to your home for the next two nights — your mission? Relax and explore this rather mountainous region.
Day 11-12 — Etosha National Park
From the rugged landscapes of Damaraland, continue to Etosha National Park, one of Namibia's most iconic wildlife destinations. As you approach the vast salt pan, the landscape slowly opens up beneath your wings. The surrounding plains attract an incredible variety of wildlife, from elephants and giraffes to lions, zebras and rhinos, gathering around the sparse waterholes. Spend your days exploring the park's open landscapes, where every game drive offers the possibility of an unforgettable wildlife encounter.
Day 13-14 — Caprivi Strip
Leaving Namibia's arid landscapes behind, your journey takes you into the lush Caprivi Strip. A dramatic change of scenery unfolds, with winding rivers, emerald floodplains and abundant wildlife. As the landscape transforms around you, slow down and immerse yourself in this remote and captivating corner of Namibia.
Day 15-16 — Chobe National Park
After passing through immigration, your adventure continues into Kasane, the gateway to Chobe National Park. From here, enter a wilderness shaped by the Chobe River and home to one of Africa's largest concentrations of elephants. Set out on game drives or cruise along the river, watching elephants, hippos, buffalo and countless birds gather at the water's edge. As the sun begins to set, the landscape takes on a magical glow, offering your first taste of Botswana's extraordinary wilderness.
Day 15 — Victoria Falls
Kasane borders one of Africa's greatest natural wonders: Victoria Falls. This goes without saying — this natural wonder cannot be missed. After a short transfer, your journey continues across the border into Zimbabwe, where the mighty Zambezi plunges into the gorge below, creating a spectacular cloud of mist. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or "The Smoke That Thunders," the Falls are a breathtaking display of nature's power. Settle into the vibrant town of Victoria Falls for the night, surrounded by the energy and charm of this remarkable destination.
Day 16-18 — Okavango Delta
Now comes a true highlight of your journey: your departure from Kasane towards the legendary Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From 300 feet above, marvel at the breathtaking tapestry of waterways, islands and floodplains unfolding beneath you. Where there is water, there is life — watch for elephants, hippos and countless other species thriving across this extraordinary wilderness. Upon landing, the lodge team will welcome you. Slow down, disconnect and embrace the magic of your surroundings.
Day 19-20 — Makgadikgadi Pans
Leaving the waterways of the Okavango Delta behind, your journey takes you into a completely different world. The landscape gradually opens up, revealing the immense Makgadikgadi Pans, one of the largest salt pan systems on Earth. Depending on the season, wildlife gathers here in impressive numbers, with zebras, wildebeest and other species crossing the vast open landscape. As the day comes to an end, watch the sun disappear beyond the horizon — a moment of pure solitude in the heart of Botswana.
Day 21-22 — Tuli Block
From Makgadikgadi, you will be heading south into Botswana, flying low-level over the Shashe River Bed bordering Botswana and Zimbabwe. After a quick refuelling stop in Francistown, you will be flying towards your last stop. After landing at Limpopo Valley Airport, you will be enjoying a last night in the Mashatu Game Reserve, renowned for its leopard and wild dog population.
Day 23 — Return to Johannesburg
It is almost time to conclude this remarkable expedition. After clearing immigration and customs in Polokwane, you will board your last flight, but the adventure isn't finished until you touch down in Johannesburg — we make sure that you don't miss South Africa's top landmarks. As the earth unfolds below, the Blyde River Canyon emerges, one of the world's greatest green canyons, before you turn towards the bustling city of Johannesburg and your final approach and landing.
